Program Manager
maia mareš (he/they) joined TREC in 2022 and works within the Operations Team as a Program Manager. More specifically, they design and deliver multifaceted support to client partners participating in TREC’s training programs, as well as providing strategic support for other TREC convenings.
From New York to Alaska, maia has worked within nonprofits on program coordination, communications, operations, and capacity building, including in environmental conservation and federal land management agencies. Most recently, they worked with organizations and companies across the U.S. as a consultant, focusing on people-centered human resources, people operations, and organizational development. Disability justice and the work of visionaries including Leah Lakshmi Piepzna Samarasinha, Mia Mingus, and adrienne maree brown have been pivotal in changing the way they approach and engage with their work inside and outside TREC. They are a big believer in practice and process as vital sites for the enactment of liberatory change within individuals, teams, and organizations. As an alum of TREC’s leadership program, maia takes great pride in developing processes and systems that allow great people to do great work.
In their free time, maia writes fiction that explores the journeys people embark on to find family, purpose, and place in the world. You might also find them taking long neighborhood walks observing and identifying plants and birds, crocheting, or practicing printmaking.
