This is an accessibility statement from Together Rising as an Environmental Community (TREC).
Measures to support accessibility
Together Rising as an Environmental Community (TREC) takes the following measures to ensure accessibility of www.trec.org:
- Include accessibility throughout our internal policies, such as our in-person convening policies, our program recruitment procedures, our hiring and on-boarding procedures, and our equitable internal policy processes.
- Include accessibility in our website design.
- Integrate accessibility into our procurement practices.

Conformance status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. www.trec.org is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.
Technical specifications
Accessibility of the TREC website relies on the following technologies to work with the particular combination of web browser and any assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer:
- HTML
- WAI-ARIA
- CSS
- JavaScript
These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the accessibility standards used.
Limitations and alternatives
Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of the TREC website, there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations, and potential solutions. Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed below.
Known limitations for the TREC Website
PDF documents: Many PDF documents are not properly tagged and may be missing alternative text because a historical lack of training means older materials are less accessible. Where possible, we are converting PDFs to more accessible web pages. Please contact us to request urgent remediation of a specific resource that would support you or your organization.
Recorded webinars: Typically do not include live captioning as these programs historically were cost prohibitive for TREC. Our live webinar programs such as Zoom and GoToWebinar can often provide transcripts after and some are beginning to offer live captioning.
Images: We strive to add descriptive alternative text to all images, and there may be some images that are missing alternative text or have alt text that is not sufficiently descriptive.
