Summary: The Executive Director (ED) of Rise AAPI Alaska, a project of the Alaska Center,  will be the face of the organization, responsible for giving the proper strategic direction and implementing a high quality vision.

The Executive Director is an influential manager with the ability to motivate and lead. The ED will have great communication skills and take a collaborative approach in managing the organization’s operations. The goal is to manage and lead the organization towards the realization of its mission.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Develop and implement civic engagement, political and fundraising strategies aiming to promote the organization’s mission and “voice”
  • Execute on above strategies that ensures the long-term viability and permanency of the organization
  • Provide strategic advice to the Chair on the overall operations and goal of the organization, with an emphasis on donor engagement strategies, proposal plans and strategic communications
  • Help the organization to think strategically and tactically about how to respond to and communicate and collaborate in the development of communications appropriate for different internal and external constituencies
  • Optimize interactions and further develop relationships with internal and external political stakeholders
  • Proactively identify policy, legislative and political trends as well as opportunities for engagement


  • Work alongside Advisors and Consultants to ensure contract requirements are fulfilled
  • Coordinate approval of negotiations, contracts, and subcontracts with appropriate management staff
  • Support the organization in conducting all phases of budget formulation, budget presentation, justification, and budget execution
  • Perform periodic budget reviews and data cleansing
  • Work in conjunction with legal and compliance staff in regards of contracts and other legal needs

Fundraising:  Coordinate and facilitate donor development with institutional as well as individual donors

Supervisory Responsibilities: Build an effective team of leaders by providing guidance and coaching to subordinate managers

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in management team calls and meetings with an eye towards identifying and coordinating follow up and action items
  • Contribute to the organization’s success by facilitating strong communication and sharing of information across the organization and with other organizations as appropriate
  • Attend and arrange any political meetings with organizations and party committees to support the organization

Education and/or Experience:

  • Proven experience as executive director or in other managerial position
  • Experience in developing strategies and plans
  • Ability to apply successful fundraising and networking techniques
  • An analytical mind capable for “out-of-the-box” thinking to solve problems
  • Outstanding organization and leadership abilities
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and public speaking skills

Organizational Relationship:

The Executive Director works alongside Rise AAPI Alaska’s Advisory Board and oversees the management of employees and advisors/consultants. The ED works collaboratively with staff, contractors, vendors and other partners on a weekly basis to maintain program efficiency.


This is a part-time position, expected to work 20-30 hours per week.

  • 20 hours per week: $40,000 – $55,000 annually
  • 30 hours per week: $58,000 – $84,000 annually

Compensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Candidates with greater relevant experience and qualifications will be considered for the higher salary ranges within each weekly hours bracket.
