The Projects Specialist position at Amigos Bravos is primarily focused on meeting current internal and external project demands, requiring flexibility to perform a broad variety of duties:

  • Research and technical projects:
    o   Watershed restoration and remediation efforts
    o   Water source protection
    o   Wetlands protection and restoration
  • Expansion of Amigos Bravos projects and presence across New Mexico, including, and engaging with and developing partnerships with the following interests and communities:
    o   Land based communities
    o   Pueblos and Tribes
    o   Allied conservation organizations
    o   Governmental entities (municipalities, state agencies, federal land management agencies)
    ·      Technical Assistance:
    o   Responding to request for information and assistance from members of the public and groups wanting to protect their watersheds.
  • Presenting and doing trainings or conducting watershed tours on watershed health topics. Assisting other project staff on project activities including work on Amigos Bravos’ hard rock mining oversight and accountability projects.
  • Development and grant writing as appropriate and assisting grants coordinator as needed.
  • Assisting other staff in cultivating and managing an active and engaged membership base and assisting with outreach activities and events.Full-time salaried positions at Amigos Bravos have a baseline expectation of 32-40 hours per week, but evening and weekend work may be required from time to time depending on projects, activities, and events. Salary range is $42K – $48K depending on experience and qualifications. The position is based in Taos, NM.

  • An interest in environmental stewardship
  • An education in environmental science
  • Excellent oral, written, professional and technical communication skills.
  • A commitment to implementing strategies that further equity, inclusion, and justice, including through the just treatment and meaningful involvement of stakeholders, partners, and frontline community groups and individuals.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, and intellectually curious with an ability to adhere to deadlines and manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
  • An ability to travel to project sites and meetings anywhere in New Mexico.
