Description
Meetings: our lives and calendars are chock full of them, and yet so often, we leave them wondering what we’ve actually accomplished. The great news is that unlike many of the daunting challenges we tackle, running an engaging, inclusive, and fruitful meeting is something that can be significantly improved with a bit of training and practice. During TREC’s Facilitation Fundamentals: Supporting Engagement and Belonging training, you’ll have the opportunity to boost your skills through resource sharing, case studies, simulations, and rolling up your sleeves with hands-on exercises.
Designed specifically for folks who spend a lot of time leading meetings, whether internally with their teams or externally with collaborators and allies, or even with opponents, this virtual training will share core practices that build trust and engagement through transparent, inclusive, and respectful processes – leading to clear and durable outcomes.
This workshop is open for Wilburforce grantees, all participants must attend all required sessions (Monday-Thursday).
During the program, we will cover:
- Meeting preparation: pre-event scoping and assessment
- Designing generative and effective processes
- Creating conditions to support authentic dialogue across difference
- Practices for naming and addressing power and accountability
- Core practices to support groups to reflect, learn together, and develop the skills necessary to flourish over the long term
Participants will leave with
- Understanding of the role of facilitator
- Framework for facilitating, including core competencies that shape effective facilitation practice
- Strategies to support inclusive and engaging dialogue
- Guideposts to aide in the preparation of facilitating a meeting
- Tips for handling tricky situations
