The Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 was passed to mainly in reaction to corporate fraud and larger accounting scandals, however, one of the provisions in the Act does affect non-profit organizations, and that increased protection of Whistleblowers. Ensuring that your organization has a policy outlining steps to report concerns, and protection for those reporting concerns is not only good practice but also assures that your organization is not violating any state or federal laws.
