David Thomson

Senior Associate

At TREC, David (he/him) works with the Organizational Effectiveness Program and Leadership Development programs and provides customized training, coaching, and consulting services on a range of topics, including strategic planning and board development. David’s specialties include leadership development, governance, coaching, strategic planning, change management and team development. He has been with TREC since 1999, and has 30 years’ experience working as a leader, trainer, and consultant in both the private and public sector. David spent eight years working with Outward Bound, where he was in a senior management role. He is a National Board Past-President of the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society. David holds a Master of Science in Organization Development from Pepperdine and is a certified coach through the Coaches Training Institute. His biggest inspiration in his work is the passion and brilliance of the wild people TREC serves who protect our natural places and spaces. David lives in North Vancouver, BC and spends his spare time roaming BC’s beautiful mountains and waters and volunteering on environmental issues in his local community. He also serves on the Governance Committee of the Canadian Alpine Club.
