Training Resources for the Environmental Community (TREC) is very excited to announce that it is conducting its third Salary and Benefits Survey. This survey focuses exclusively on Western environmental organizations in the US and Canada. We hope you will take a few moments now to complete the survey.

All organizations who complete the survey will receive a free copy of our analysis. Similar salary reports cost several hundred dollars; however TREC is making this report freely available as part of its commitment to strengthening conservation groups throughout the West.

The survey report will provide a detailed breakdown of salary ranges for different staff positions. We will also identify variations in these ranges and benefits packages based upon geography and organization size. We expect that you will find this information very helpful as you budget for your organization and set staff pay.

You may also add notes at the end of each survey section for yourself or other staff members who may help fill out the survey. You can review, change and print your survey until the final deadline.

Important tips for completing the survey:

1. The survey should be completed by someone who is familiar with your organization’s personnel policies and has access to staff salary information. Several questions at the end of the survey should be answered by the Executive Director.
   
2. The questionnaire will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. If you use this web-based survey, you will be able to complete parts of the survey and return later to finish remaining questions.
   
3. To assist in answering the questions, refer to your organization’s personnel policies. These policies are likely to contain much of the information requested by the survey.
   
4. If you are a chapter of a national organization, please provide only that information pertaining to your chapter’s work, salaries and personnel policies.
